Bot Designer Overview

Bot Designer is a web application for building bots, which are sets of instructions and processes that handle user-defined business logic. Examples of bot-driven processes include automating interactions, completing tasks, parsing data, integrating with third-party services, directing customer traffic, etc.

Bots, Flows and Steps

Bots consist of flows, which are built with steps. Usually, a bot is setup to accomplish certain business goals. The flows describe specific use cases the bot can handle. Steps in a flow are the building blocks used to create and execute logic sequentially and can also be created to communicate and interact with external entities (such as third-party services, company databases, agent interfaces, other flows, or other bots).

Bots overview

Bots can either be configured or created from scratch. To configure a bot, search and download the usecase you want from the Bot Library. Once you have the bot downloaded, you can edit the flow to either configure or customize the bot as needed. There is no limit to the number of times one can download different bots or copies of a bot. You can also create a bot on your own.

Adding a Bot

To add a new bot, click the blue plus button in the bottom right corner of the screen. A menu with the options to either download a bot or create a blank one will appear.

If you choose to download a bot from the Bot Library, the Library will be opened in iFrame where the available bot templates can be selected and downloaded to your account. You can download and configure or even customize a bot from the Bot Library as many times as you like.

If you choose to create a new bot, you will be taken to an empty bot page with a sidebar on the right hand side which displays the bot details. This is where you can specify the bot name and description and add its icon url. When you have finished, click the Save button to save your bot. By creating a bot, you create a container where you can manage flows to control and execute your business scenarios.

Editing / Deleting a Bot

To edit the bot name, description, or icon URL, simply click on the text you would like to change. You can also hover your cursor over the text and click the Edit button that appears to the right. To delete a Bot, use the Delete button at the bottom right corner of the screen. This will remove the bot and all of the flows contained within it, all flows will be automatically deactivated and no longer respond. Once a bot has been deleted, you will not be able to recover it.
